Cascading Roofs

a house in the palouse

This house for a metallurgical engineer and an artist sits in the middle of a garden, pavilion like, high on a ridge overlooking the surrounding rolling Palouse hills  of Spokane that stretch out to the horizon of eastern Washington. The house, a long bar with a tall vertical element in the middle was constructed using tilt up concrete panels, stacked stone, wooden glue laminated beams and a series of cascading copper roofs.
